About Me
Shawn O'Donoghue | 24 | Hilversum, Netherlands
Background
I'm a full-stack developer based in Hilversum, Netherlands, with a deep passion for understanding how things work. From a young age, I loved computers and games but never quite understood the magic behind them. That curiosity led me on a journey that changed everything.
After high school, I was introduced to programming and instantly fell in love. What started as simple HTML and CSS websites with a focus on design evolved dramatically when I discovered JavaScript and React. That's when I knew I wanted to dive deeper into software development.
Education
Utrecht University of Applied Sciences
Associate Degree in Software Development
I graduated at the top of my class with 3 honours stars - the highest number of honours ever achieved by a student at the university. This record was shared with one classmate, making us both the "first" students to reach this milestone.
During my studies, I developed the BiasBrothers Workshop App, a professional application designed to help identify and understand cognitive biases in workshop settings. This project was a significant part of my graduation work.
What I Do
I build portfolio sites, create random scripts, and develop small applications. But what really excites me is taking things apart to see how they work - it's the best way to learn about the products we use every day.
My home lab journey started with a single Raspberry Pi running basic services. It has since evolved into a full-fledged NAS setup running a media server, Pi-hole, Homebridge, Tailscale, and the complete Servarr stack - with more services being added all the time.
