Raspberry Pi Lab

From a single Pi to a full home lab - the journey continues.

What started as a single Raspberry Pi running basic services has evolved into a complete home lab. I began with simple projects - Pi-hole for DNS, a basic smart home setup, and a few "why not?" experiments. But as I learned more about what was possible, the setup kept growing.

Now it's a full-fledged NAS running media servers, network-wide ad blocking, home automation, secure remote access, and automated media management. Each addition teaches me something new about networking, Docker, Linux, and system administration.

Current Home Lab Stack

Network & Security

  • Pi-hole - DNS-level ad blocking
  • Tailscale - Secure remote access

Media & Entertainment

  • Media server
  • Servarr stack (Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Prowlarr, etc.)

Home Automation

  • Homebridge - HomeKit integration

Infrastructure

  • Ugreen NASynC DXP4800 Plus with redundancy
  • Docker containers for service isolation
  • Automated backups
  • Custom scripts & monitoring

The Journey

This setup represents countless hours of learning, troubleshooting, and experimenting. Every service added taught me something new - from Docker networking to reverse proxies, from backup strategies to monitoring dashboards. More services are coming soon as I continue to expand and optimize the lab.
